Pushing and Shoving PACT! Into Action

You know the expression “When push comes to shove?” Well, here’s the story of when a push came to a shove so hard, it knocked us clear overseas to Munich.
To explain, over the spring and summer months of 2024, we were quietly, stealthy building the foundations of PACT! In late July we got a call–a challenge, really–from Ella Robertson McKay, the Managing Director of One Young World, the renowned Global Community for Young Leaders. In September of that year, One Young World would be holding its annual world-wide summit in Montreal, and she asked if PACT! could make a presentation to thousands of delegates from more than 190 countries.
Only problem was that as quiet, stealthy builders of a subversive anti-hate movement at the time…we really weren’t ready for a big coming out party.
A bigger problem, we figured, would be to pass up this opportunity. So we said yes…and then said “What the hell do we do now?”
After a couple of brainstorming sessions and some help from friends in Boulder, Colorado, we packaged the PACT! spirit, DNA, beliefs, attitude, promises and dreams into a somewhat offbeat presentation called “The Annual Report of Hate Incorporated.” On the morning of Friday, Sept. 20, we hit the stage…were literally pushed, to be honest.
And here’s what we learned: guess we indeed were ready, because the response from the energetic, diverse crowd shoved us to the realization that we had to fast-track our next steps.
Wanna talk response? How about unsolicited kudos from some of the world’s largest multinationals? How about young delegates emailing us with offers of help while we were still in mid-presentation mode? How about an informal, dinner-time masterclass with One Young World Counsellor and icon of altruism Sir Bob Geldof?
And how about the offer to appear at One Young World one year later, this coming November in Munich, Germany?
Happy we said yes to the first challenge, and happier still we agreed to the second one…which, if as successful as the first, will result in us pushing three young visionary/actionary entrepreneurs into action. But for more details on that, click here.
